I have spent most of my life feeling like a mismatch. Born in India, raised in the Middle East, and now living in the United States of America, I learned early on how to adapt to whatever culture I found myself in. As a result, my behavior differed from home to school, church, and everywhere.
Oh my! Thank you for writing this. I resonate so much with what you wrote especially because I’m a first generation immigrant, born and raised in Oman, moved to US after living in India for a bit. I’m a Christian too and I did attend an Indian church till almost 10 years ago. Thanks again.
I like hearing about your experience juggling multiple cultures. I love the way you describe taking on the qualities of the people around you-i can totally relate to this!
